Manufacturing technology

We manufacture Gypsteel products in Finland, such as GK Gypsteel profile, by using the roll forming technology. The production technology utilizes a patented manufacturing technology that optimizes the properties of the steel. The installation is more ergonomic, and the use of technology has a significant effect on the installation speed.

Usage

GK-profile usage in a rectangular room is 3,4m/m2.

Length

GK-profiles can be manufactured according to the requirements of your project to these specified lengths of 500-6000mm.

Installation

The GK1 longitudinal support is mounted on top of the terminal strip and the secondary support is installed inside the terminal strip. This creates the 28mm height difference required to support the ends of the supports in a 2-level installation.

The installation of the GK1 supports is started by placing the first GK1 longitudinal support at a maximum distance of 600 mm from the starting wall. It is extended with a maximum spacing of 1200 mm (single plate roof). The last longitudinal girder is installed at a distance of at least 600 mm from the endpoint. The even spacing of the cross-members shall be determined by the length of the plate finally used and shall not exceed 400 mm. The transverse supports are attached to the longitudinal supports with locking pieces.

Load

The point load can be max. 5 kg/1.2 m or continuous load max . 5kg/m suspended on a GK1 support. Point and continuous loads must not be affected at the same time.

Examples of the load

Indicative examples of the load caused by suspensions on roof structures:

  • Suspended ceiling tiling (1 layer of tiles) with insulation ≈ 20 kg/m2
  • Suspended ceiling tiling (2 layers of tiles) ≈ 30 kg/m2
  • Ventilation ducts (note vibrations) ≈ 8 kg/m2
  • Ventilation units ≈ 10–100 kg/m2
  • Refrigeration pipes with support shelves ≈ 7kg/m2
  • Heat and water pipes ≈ 5 kg/m2
  • Luminaires and cable trays ≈ 5 kg/m2
  • Friezes, signs, etc. ≈ 5 kg/m2

The point loads caused by the suspensions are often much more significant than the square loads, therefore they almost always have to be suspended with separate fasteners directly on the load-bearing structure. For most hardware, piping and cable tray installations, see the literature.

Sound insulation

If sound insulation is required, a Gypsteel GKC terminal and start list can be added to the sound insulation rubber EPDM. Sound insulation is also obtained by adding a second layer of board, in which case the GK1 longitudinal support is installed k850 and the GK1 transverse support k400, the suspensions are still k900.
